Floating Cork Floors : One of the most unusual floor coverings there is on the market is one that has grown in popularity for a ton of reasons and is cork. Yes we said cork. Just like the material on the wallboards to stick pins in. Cork flooring is great for insulating the room and for conveying a warm and cozy feel. This type of flooring has been around for a little while but seems to just have exploded into frenzy. There are a couple of types of cork floors to choose from and they have to do with how they are put down. You can get glue down corkflooring or you can have corkfloors that are made of floating planks. The choice is yours though some work better in some spaces than others. Ask you flooring expert about your application. The ones that get glued down are obvious; there is a glue material that you need to buy to secure the cork to the floor. The floating ones are a bit different. These items have a locking mechanism to attach the planks to one another. There is a padding type material on the bottom of the cork and it simply floats on that material instead of being fixed to the floor below. You also have a few choices with regard to the company you want to buy your cork floor from. APC cork (apccork) is one of the great ones but then again so are Eurocork and Novcork. All of these companies will be able to get you your new cork flooring in a huge variety of colors with names such as Labrador and Lunenburg. From light and bright colors to darker ones like ebony, cork can make your house into a home.
